Spoilers
The children have finally made it, where their father is possibly located and all that stands in their way is a man with glowing red eyes and the mastermind of this city, IT. Through the man with red eyes, IT talks to them with telepathy. and is able to even make plain food taste like what ever they want. Charles however, is able to shut his mind from him, and as a result, the food tastes like sand to him. He however, wants to know what IT is, and looks straight in to the man's eyes, hoping to find the answer like how he usually does. However, the worse happens and he falls under IT's spell. Now a total zombie under IT's will, Meg and Calvin are left alone to face the danger of IT.
As I read this chapter, I got more and more curious about what IT actually was, and sadly I did not find out by the end of the chapter. All I could gather from the chapter was that, it uses telepathy and it runs the place, laying out the population's routine, keeping everything in sync. Now I suppose I can add to the list of reasons why this book was banned. As a review, on the list so far is... delinquent child, missing father, witches, magic, tessering, time manipulation, existence of other life forms and planets, a darkness that threatens all including Earth, and now added to the list is the use of telepathy. Quickly glancing at the list, half of these are magic/ science fiction related, and should be taken as they are, fiction. Though I do not know if these are really the reasons why this book was banned, I intend to find out sooner or later.
